  • A new year has started, so I thought I'd start a new topic that you might find interesting: daily betting tips. I will try to provide a betting tip each day and hopefully, if you will stick to these tips, you will win some cash in 2013.

The first tip is on a tennis match, first round of the Chennai Open. I am backing local Indian player Somdev Devvarman to win his opening round match against Czech player Jan Hajek.

Devvarman is now ranked below 600 in ATP, but that is due to an injury he sustained in October 2011, which forced him to be out for nearly a whole year. He came back to full fitness in October 2012 and now he has the motivation to climb back up the ladder.

If your budget for a bet today is 10 dollars I'd bet 9 dollars on this match. The best odds I was able to find were at Pinnacle Sportsbook, 1.79 for a Devvarman victory.

    Good luck!

    Rules on posting your tips

All posts in the Betting Tips topic must have, along with the tips, a motivation for the tip, elaborating the reasons why somebody should choose that particular bet. That would give the readers a lot more value and information than a plain tip. Please stick to this rule, otherwise your tips will be deleted.

  • The result is in, Devvarman won easily, 6-3, 6-3.

So, if you took my advice and bet 9 bucks on this lad you would have won 7 dollars and 11 cents in addition to your stake back.

I guess we should keep track of those winnings:

    Bets: 1

    Total Stakes: $9

    Total Winnings: $7.11

  • I'm definitely going to enjoy this thread Johnny.

    Thank you.

    blue

  • I'm going to suggest another tennis bet today, but this time we'll have a look at the Qatar Open in Doha.

Second round matches take place today and I have my eyes on Simone Bolelli vs Lukasz Kubot. Kubot earned an impressive first round win against Feliciano Lopez, so he seems in good shape. On the other hand, Bolelli has a losing record on this surface in his career, so I am backing Kubot to win.

The best odds I could find for a Kubot win were at Ladbrokes, 1.57. The stake would be 9 out of 10, just like yesterday, so the projected winning would be $5.13.

  • This is going to be a very interesting thread. Great idea Johnny.

  • Didn't go as planned this time. Kubot started the game as I had expected him to, won the first set easily (6-2), but then he dropped the next two sets, 6-4, 6-4.

    Bets: 2

    Total Stakes: $18

    Total Winnings: -$1.89

  • Time for some soccer today, and it's a Portuguese second division match that caught my attention. Freamunde, the last placed team, play hosts to Belenenses, the leaders of the division. The visitors will probably win this game but it would be too risky to bet on that as Freamunde will surely do their very best to get something out of this game in their quest to avoid relegation.

So my suggestion is to bet on over 2.5 goals scored in this game, especially since the last six games between these two sides saw just two of them ending with less than 3 goals scored.

The best odds for this bet were found at William Hill, 2.0, so I suggest betting 9/10 which would give you a profit of 9 dollars.

  • This one went as planned, the game ended 3-3!

    Bets: 3 Won: 2 Lost: 1

    Total Stakes: $19

    Total Winnings: $7.11

  • Time for some tennis again, back to the Qatar Open in Doha. The game that caught my attention today is David Ferrer vs Nikolay Davydenko.

Ferrer is the favourite but I suggest betting on the underdog this time. The head to head statistic between Ferrer and Davydenko is tied at 3-3 but Davydenko has a good history at this particular tournament as he beat Nadal here in 2010 and 2011

This year he went past Youzhny, Hanescu and Bolelli easily. Moreover, hard courts are Ferrer's weakest point, while Davydenko seems to feel great on such courts.

The best odds I could find on this bet were at BetFair, they offer 3.7 for a Davydenko win. Considering it's a risky bet, I suggest betting 6/10 for a projected profit of 16.2 dollars.

  • Mission accomplished: Davydenko won 6-2, 6-3.

    Bets: 4

    Won: 3

    Lost: 1

    Total Stakes: $25

    Total Profits: $23.31

So, with 4 bets we almost doubled our money, I guess that's not too bad.

  • It's FA Cup weekend these days, one of the nicest traditions in English soccer. There are quite a few games today in this competition but one of them could make for a good bet.

It's Bolton vs Sunderland, a clash between a Championship side and a Premier League side. Bolton are 16th in the Championship and lost 3 out of last 4 matches. Sunderland lost 3 out of their last 5, but won against Man City at home and did a good job at Southampton away, while losing  against Man Utd away and Tottenham plus Liverpool at home. Sunderland are unbeaten in the last 7 direct matches against Bolton in all competitions.

So I think Sunderland will clinch this one. But since cup ties are quite risky, I suggest going for a "draw no bet" this time, which means that if the game ends in a draw you will get your money back, while if Sunderland win you get a profit of 7.47 dollars if you bet 9/10 at Bet365. (odds = 1.83 for draw no bet on Sunderland).

  • The game ended 2-2, so if you placed a "draw no bet" you don't lose anything.

    Bets: 5

    Won: 3

    Total Stakes: $25

    Total Profits: $23.31

  • Mission accomplished: Davydenko won 6-2, 6-3.

    Bets: 4

    Won: 3

    Lost: 1

    Total Stakes: $25

    Total Profits: $23.31

So, with 4 bets we almost doubled our money, I guess that's not too bad.

That was a great bet. Congrats! :)

  • There's another FA Cup day today, and this time I'm fancying a "to qualify" bet. As you know, in case of a draw in the FA Cup, the match is replayed. So our bet would be standing until a qualified team is decided if today's match ends in a draw.

The match I've chosen is Swansea vs Arsenal. The Gunners are not in their best shape, they produced a poor display last week in the league, but that will probably give them the motivation to play their hearts out in the FA Cup. On the other hand, Swansea have the League Cup semi final against Chelsea to worry about, so they might have less motivation in this tie than Arsenal.

Event: Swansea vs Arsenal, FA Cup

    Bet: Arsenal to qualify

    Odds: 1.53

    Sportsbook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $4.77

  • It ended 2-2 so nothing is decided yet, the bet still stands until the replay which will probably be played in two weeks time.

  • Time for another soccer bet today, but this time we'll be taking a closer look at the Spanish first division. The first matchday after the winter break is going to end today with a mid-table clash between Rayo Vallecano and Getafe.

Rayo are 9th in the league table, Getafe are just behind them in 10th. I've studied their statistics for the season and I noticed something interesting: Rayo have an average goal scoring ratio at home of 1.25 goals/game while Getafe have the same goal scoring ratio away from home! Which leads me to believe a draw might be a likely result.

Moreover, Rayo's last draw in the league was back in September 2012, so I guess it's time for them to experience a stalemate.

Event: Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe, Liga BBVA

    Bet: Draw

    Odds: 3.51

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle Sportsbook

    Stake: 6/10

    Projected profits: $15.06

  • good prediction I won a free bet not sure how much its gonna be as it was for predicting the best cupset in fa cup with highest odds I along with a few others sucessfully chose oldham at odds of 11/2 roughly 5.5

  • the good news its a share of £1000 in bets so the less people who chose oldham the better lol!

  • I won a free bet not sure how much its gonna be as it was for predicting the best cupset in fa cup with highest odds I along with a few others sucessfully chose oldham at odds of 11/2 roughly 5.5

That's great mate, let us know how much you get.

  • got a total of £31.80 free betting credits have a fair few bets in hand won a horse racing bet today 11.60 then went on rainbow riches with it and played it out lost it put 10 in and won 30 on rainbow riches £20 profit and my money back also got free et money still left and bets in hand woohooo!!

  • Didn't go as planned, Rayo won 3-1.

    Bets: 6

    Won: 3

    Lost: 2

    Total Stakes: $31

    Total Profits: $17.31

  • Back to tennis again, but this time we take a closer look at a women's match. It's round of 16 at the Hobart International tournament and the match I'm suggesting is Stephens vs Halep.

Stephens won in the previous round against another young hot prospect, Robson, but it was a really poor match. On the other hand Halep was impressive against Arruabarena in the previous round. Halep is ranked below Stephens, so she should be motivated. Moreover, Halep has won the only previous encounter between the two last year.

Event: Sloane Stephens vs Simona Halep, WTA Hobart International

Bet: Halep +4.0 games (asian handicap)

    Odds: 1.9

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle Sportsbook

    Stake: 8/10

    Projected profits: $7.2

  • Not good... Things seemed right in the first set, quite balanced, won 6-4 by Stephens. But then Halep crumbled in the second set and lost it 6-0.

    Bets: 7

    Won: 3

    Lost: 3

    Money back: 1

    Total Stakes: $39

    Total Profits: $8.31

  • Event: Svetlana Kuznetsova vs Angelique Kerber, WTA Sydney

    Bet: Over 20.5 games

    Odds: 1.95

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle Sportsbook

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $8.55

Kerber is the favourite to win but she's not in great shape while Kuznetsova is better and better in the latest matches. So I think it will be a long match, with over 21 games.

  • It was a hard-fought match indeed, Kerber won 6-3, 7-5. And that's exactly 21 games, just enough for a winning bet. :)

    Bets: 8

    Won: 4

    Lost: 3

    Money back: 1

    Total Stakes: $48

    Total Profits: $16.86

  • I narrowly missed out on big money today had £4 accumulator both to score Juventus v Ac,Getafe v Rayo,Chelsea v Swansea,Zaragoza v Levante,Aston Villa V bradford,Valencia V Osasuna I could cry almost man! would have been great odds for those 6 teams only 2 wrong!!

    coupon1.JPG

  • I was quite surprised by the Chelsea result, I expected both to score in that game. Better luck next time!

  • Event: Marcel Granollers vs Andreas Seppi, ATP Sydney

    Bet: Over 22.5 games

    Odds: 2.0

    Sportsbook: 12bet

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $9

Both players feel more comfortable on clay than on hard courts, so it's a fairly balanced match. Moreover, the only previous meeting on hard court between the two was at the US Open and it ended in five sets. So I expect a close match here with two long sets or maybe even three.

  • Me too Johnny bloody useless man lol! Demba Bas goal was a whisker offside but there wasnt alot in it! If man u had scored a goal like that it would have been allowed put it that way and I hate chelsea so thats al big thing coming from my mouth man!

  • Me too Johnny bloody useless man lol! Demba Bas goal was a whisker offside but there wasnt alot in it! If man u had scored a goal like that it would have been allowed put it that way and I hate chelsea so thats al big thing coming from my mouth man!

He was offside though, it was the correct decision.

  • The match was close, as predicted, but not close enough. Seppi won 6-4, 7-5, so there were 22 games in total, just one away from a winning bet.

    Bets: 9

    Won: 4

    Lost: 4

    Money back: 1

    Total Stakes: $57

    Total Profits: $7.86

  • Only just man it wasn't miles offside like some other goals ~I have seen given it was just a teensy bit offside

  • Event: Agnieszka Radwanska vs Dominika Cibulkova, WTA Sydney

    Bet: Over 19.5 games

    Odds: 1.98

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle Sportsbook

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $8.82

Radwanska is the favourite, that's quite clear, but Cibulkova had an amazing tournament, culminating with the semi final win against second seed Kerber. Radwanska will probably win but it won't be easy for her, so I predict at least 20 games in this match.

  • Cibulkova was a total wreck today, just a shadow of the player we've seen in action all week. Radwanska won 6-0, 6-0.

    Bets: 10

    Won: 4

    Lost: 5

    Money back: 1

    Total Stakes: $66

    Total Profits: -$1.14

  • Two soccer tips for today, one from England and the other from Italy.

First tip is on the most famous derby in English football, Manchester United vs Liverpool. Man United are in great shape, top of the table, and they will surely want to give their home fans something to cheer about against their bitter rivals. Robin van Persie is scoring regularly lately and he will probably do so again today. On the other hand Liverpool are improving their goal scoring as well, with Luis Suarez probably keen on scoring against The Reds' most famous rivals. I expect a spectacular match with lots of goals.

Event: Manchester United vs Liverpool, Premier League

    Bet: Over 3 goals

    Odds: 2.00

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $9.00

In Italy, we're looking at  a more risky bet in Catania vs Roma. The last match between the two ended 2-2 in Rome, but Roma haven't recorded any away draws so far this season. However, they have not won at Catania since 2007, recording 4 draws out of 6 games. So there might be a good chance for their first away draw of the season today.

Event: Catania vs Roma, Serie A

    Bet: Draw

    Odds: 3.90

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 5/10

    Projected profits: $14.50

  • One went well (Man Utd 2 Liverpool 1), one didn't (Catania 1 Roma 0). But we still have a small profit for the day.

    Bets: 25

    Won: 11

    Lost: 13

    Money back: 1

    Total Stakes: $174

    Total Profits: -$17.84

  • Time for a tennis bet since the Australian Open has just kicked off. Australian Hewitt is facing Tipsarevic in the first round and even though the Serbian player is the clear favourite I think Hewitt will give him a good run for his money. That's why I think the match will be a long one, with at least 40 games.

Event: Lleyton Hewitt - Janko Tipsarevic, Australian Open

    Bet: Over 39.5 games

    Odds: 1.83

    Sportsbook: Paddy Power

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $7.47

  • Hewitt did battle hard but he lacked the finishing touch in the decisive moments. First set was 7-6, then 7-5 and then Hewitt surrendered, 6-3 in the third set.

    Bets: 26

    Won: 11

    Lost: 14

    Money back: 1

    Total Stakes: $183

    Total Profits: -$26.84

  • Time for a batch of tennis tips, here goes:

Event: Ricardas Berankis - Sergiy Stakhovsky, Australian Open

    Bet: Over 37.5 games

    Odds: 1.71

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $6.39

Shakhovsky has three consecutive first round appearances at the Australian Open in which he played at least for sets. On the other hand, Berankis is a young talent who came through the qualifiers, so he will give his best even though he tends to concede quite a few errors at times. But Stakhovsky isn't the steadiest of players either, so we will probably have a long match.

Event: Tommy Robredo - Jesse Levine, Australian Open

    Bet: Robredo to win

    Odds: 2.30

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $11.70

Robredo is a good player, former top 10 in the ATP, but he missed a whole lot of tournaments in 2011 due to injuries. However, he has avery good record at the Australian Open, he reached at least 2nd round in 6 out of last 7 tournaments. On the other hand, Levine has lost 7 consecutive first round matches in events on hard courts.

Event: Juan Martin Del Potro - Adrian Mannarino, Australian Open

    Bet: Over 30.5 games

    Odds: 1.73

    Sportsbook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $6.57

Del Potro is the clear favourite but he has met Mannarino twice before and in both occasions the Frenchman took a set. Moreover, Mannarino has already won 8 matches this season while Del Potro only played an exhibition tournament.

Event: Event: Tommy Haas - Jarkko Nieminen, Australian Open

    Bet: Over 38 games

    Odds: 1.83

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: $7.47

These two are very experienced and both seem in good shape despite advancing in age. They met three times in the last 10 years and Nieminen has taken a set in two of those encounters. It should be a long and thrilling match between two veterans.

  • I have a few good football tips Johnny for tomorrow and I did the research too one is a draw between Leyton Orient vs Hull City in there last 7 outings against one another 5 have been draws including the game just a short while ago 12/5 for the draw. Also a double of Real Madrid v Valencia both to score or over 2.5 goals and Arsenal V Swansea the same bet or brave offer of a double will be good odds!

  • Won another bet fred free bet this time only £1.21(495 free bet winners!) so I did 2 coupons one for goals galore and the other for outright teams to win the games and Murray to win his tennis match

I did the research for my accumulators using soccerway.com whats your verdict?

  • Those sound like good tips, I think I'll add them here later.

As for your bets, both are pretty bold in my view but you do have a reasonable shot. Some luck will be needed though, as always :) Fingers crossed!

  • Not very inspired tips this time, all the first three went wrong. But the fourth is a winning one, hopefully you picked that one for a bet: Haas and Nieminen are still playing but they have gone well past 38 games.

Here's another tennis tip, match starts in about two hours:

Event: Yanina Wickmayer - Jarmila Gajdosova, Women's Australian Open

    Bet: Over 20.5 games

    Odds: 1.83

    Sportsbook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: 7.47

Wickmayer is the favourite, she already reached a final this year in Auckland. On the other hand, Gajdosova is Australian, she's playing at home, and she recorded decent results so far this year. Moreover, all three previous encounters between the two on hard surface ended in three sets, Wickmayer winning two and Gajdosova one (the last one, last year at Indian Wells). That said, I believe they will have another fierce match with over 20 games.

  • Unfortunately Gajdosova took a nap through the first set and, by the time she woke up, it was over, 6-1. She tried to fight back in the second and nearly pulled it off but Wickmayer kept cool and finished it off 7-5.

    Bets: 31

    Won: 12

    Lost: 18

    Money back: 1

    Total Stakes: 228

    Total Profits: -55.37

  • Hopefully I will be more inspired today as I focus on the Australian Open again. I'm currently studying statistics about tomorrow's matches and I will gradually add the tips here.

Event: Somdev Devvarman - Jerzy Janowicz, Men's Australian Open

    Bet: Over 36.5 games

    Odds: 1.94

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: 8.46

There is a difference of around 500 ranking places between these two players, Janowicz is the clear favourite but Devvarman is quite underrated. He is a good player but his ranking points took a bad hit last year as he struggled with a shoulder injury and missed most of the tournaments. He played very well in the first round against Phau and won in straight sets, so I believe Janowicz will have a tough match here. Moreover, Devvarman won the only previous meeting between the two, back in 2009.

Event: Carlos Berlocq - Kei Nishikori, Men's Australian Open

Bet: Belocq to win first set (+2.5 Asian handicap)

    Odds: 2.10

    Sportsbook: Paddy Power

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: 9.90

Nishikori had a torrid time in the first round, struggled with an injury and lost the first set to Hanescu. On the other hand Berlocq fought really well and I think he might pull off something here, at least in the opening set.

Event: Nicolas Almagro - Daniel Gimeno, Men's Australian Open

Bet: Under 9.5 games first set

    Odds: 2.10

    Sportsbook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: 9.90

Almagro is the clear favourite and I expect him to show who's boss right from the first set with a 6-3 score or better.

Event: Guillaume Rufin - Tomas Berdych, Men's Australian Open

    Bet: Under 28.5 games

    Odds: 1.83

    Sportsbook: Ladbrokes

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: 7.47

Bedych is the clear favourite here and Rufin hasn't impressed at all in the opening round. I expect an easy win for Berdych.

Event: Tobias Kamke - Stanislas Wawrinka, Men's Australian Open

    Bet: Under 34.5 games

    Odds: 1.96

    Sportsbook: Pinnacle

    Stake: 9/10

    Projected profits: 8.64

Wawrinka seems in great shape, steady as a tank. Kamke had a fairly easy match in the first round but now things will be different and Wawrinka will probably take it in straight sets.

  • Thanks man doing the research can pay off yeah I realize a bit of luck will be required some returns if either come up and it was free 1.21 anyway nothing else you can do with such a little amount of betting credits man
