I just found some interesting World Cup odds at Victor Chandler Sportsbook.  Below are the top 10 odds.

They have Spain as the favourites with a low 7/2 - which is 3.5 to 1 so for every $1/£1/€1 you wager you would get 3.5 plus your bet back.

Spain              7/2

Brazil              9/2

England       15/2

Argentina     13/2

Netherlands   9/1

Germany       14/1

Italy               16/1

France           20/1

Ivory Coast   40/1

Portugal       25/1

Due to it being in Africa I can't see any of the european teams winning it, 2 horse race as far as I'm concerned (:

The Europeans are going to struggle with the heat but I'm intrigued by who you think are the "2 horses".

Flag-St-George.gif

Tomorrow imarks the start of the much anticipated World Cup and to say that "football fever" is setting in here in the UK is an understatement.  The England flag (cross of St George) is flying from the windows of many cars, being painted on the sides of public bars and being displayed in windows across the country.

At Bwin Sportsbook you can find the latest odds they are offering for outright winner.  Spain and Brazil are still tipped as favourites.  Good luck to ALL participating countries.  fingers_crossed.gif

Brazil 19/4

England 15/2

not just the heat but the altitude aswell

think it'll be between argentina and brazil, i'd say argentina have the best squad out of any of the teams but maradonna seems to be a weakness

we'll see (:

The opening ceremony was just on and the first teams are on the pitch.  The FIFA president opens the World Cup 2010 to the sound of thousands of horns which sound like a swarm of bees!

The stadium is almost packed to the rafters and it should be an exciting game.

The World Cup has officially started!

William Hill Online are offering the following odds for the score after 90 minutes in the USA v England game

England 1/2 to win

Draw 3/1

USA 6/1 to win

Bet US odds are just a bit confusing to me but it looks like these figures could be right: (live betting therefore subject to change)

England 10/11 to win

Draw   33/10 (3.3/1)

USA    17/4         to win

Ladbrokes are offering the same odds as William Hill Online but if you bet £5 at Ladbrokes in one single bet, they will give you 4 x £5 free bets plus a £5 card to use "in-shop".

I've managed to work out the odds now and I am able to show them in US, European or UK.  Yay me.

Ok - results for today:

Brazil 2 : 1 North Korea

The odds for the result "Brazil to win" were terrible (-1200 (2/25)) which basically means you would have to bet $25 to get $2 back (plus your bet) so not a great return on your money.

Côte d’Ivoire 0 : 0 Portugal

The odds for the DRAW were 2/1 which isn't great but it's certainly better than the above odds.

New Zealand 1 : 1 Slovakia

For this result odds were 31/10 or +310.  A great result for New Zealand who were definitely not favourite to win this match.

Todays World Cup Matches - odds from Boylesports.  I've converted the odds from UK to US as well

Honduras vs. Chile

Honduras win 5/1 / +500.00

DRAW 11/4 / +275.00

Chile win 4/7 /  -175.00

Spain vs. Switzerland

Spain win 2/7 / -350.00

DRAW 4/1 / +400.00

Switzerland win 12/1 / +1200

South Africa vs. Uruguay

South Africa win 19/10 / +190.00

DRAW 9/4 / +225.00

Uruguay win 7/5 / +140.00

Some very nice odds on Switzerland but I guess they are high for a reason. Why not take advantage of Boylesports free bet offer. See below.

    *  Deposit and place your first bet of €/£10 or more and Boylesportswill match it with a free bet up to €/£20

    * After placing your first bet, the free bet is put into your account on the following day

    * Free bet is eligible for new customers only

Results for today:

Honduras 0 : 1 Chile

Chile win 4/7 /  -175.00

South Africa 0 : 3 Uruguay

Uruguay win 7/5 / +140.00

Spain 0 : 1 Switzerland

Switzerland win 12/1 / +1200

What a nice return that would have been.  I knew it was worth a bet - shame I didn't listen to myself.
