Back Premier League: Celtic reject Arsenal transfer bid for Kieran Tierney

Premier League side Arsenal have made an offer worth 25 million pounds for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, but the Scottish club have rejected the bid. This is the second offer that Arsenal have made for the 22-year-old full-back this summer, the previous bid was around 15 million pounds. It is believed that Celtic would be willing to let Tierney go for 25 million pounds, but they were unhappy with the Arsenal bid structure as they want more money upfront and less in add-ons.

Kieran Tierney is currently recovering from a double hernia operation, this problem has limited him to just nine appearances this year. The young left-back has won four league titles with Celtic, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups. He became a first-team regular at Celtic during the 2015-2016 season, when he was just 18 years old. He already has 12 caps for the Scottish national team as he moved up straight from the Under-19 team to the senior one. Serie A runners-up Napoli are also rumoured to be interested in signing Kieran Tierney, but they haven't made an official bid so far.

Arsenal have employed Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal at left-back last season, and if the Tierney deal goes through then one of the two might have to leave. Monreal is 33 years old now and looks like a prime candidate for a move away from the club, but he revealed that he is confident of remaining at the Gunners. "I belong at Arsenal. I still have a contract. My idea is to stay here. It's a great club and I feel really comfortable playing for Arsenal. My idea is to continue playing here," Monreal said. The Spaniard has also provided cover as a central defender when needed.

Arsenal have made just one transfer this summer, they signed 18-year-old Brazilian left winger Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano. The Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League last season and now they are 1/3 at Bet365 to finish in the top four.
