Back UEFA Europa League: Olympiacos vs Wolverhampton preview

Greek side Olympiacos are looking to make a second victim from England when they host Wolverhampton at Giorgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus on Thursday for the first leg of their UEFA Europa League last-sixteen tie. The two sides have never met before in an European competition and this will also be the first match against a Greek side for Wolverhampton. Olympiacos have met teams from England on 32 occasions and have won 9 times, while their home record shows 7 wins out of 16 matches.

Oplympiacos pulled off one of the biggest surprises in the previous round as they knocked out Premier League side Arsenal. The tie was in the Gunners' hands after a 1-0 victory in Piraeus in the first leg, but in London Olympiacos managed to fight back and won 2-1 after extra time. They are undefeated in the Greek SuperLeague after 26 matches and will most likely win the title with ease, but their last competitive match was a 3-2 defeat at PAOK in the Greek Cup. Hillal Soudani is the only injury concern for the home side ahead of this match.

Wolverhampton are flying high on all fronts, they are undefeated in their last five Premier League matches and in the Europa League they have gotten quite far and can even hope to do something memorable and win the trophy. In the previous round the Wolves settled the tie in the first leg as they hammered Espanyol 4-0 at Molineux Stadium, they lost 3-2 in the second leg but qualification was already secured. Last week they got held to a goalless draw at home by Brighton but they remain sixth in the Premier League table. Jonny is the only injury worry for manager Nuno Espirito Santo ahead of this game.

Probable line-ups:

Olympiacos: Sa - Elabdellaoui, Semedo, Ba, Tsimikas - Fortounis, Guilherme, Camara - Masouras, El-Arabi, Valbuena

Wolverhampton: Patricio - Boly, Coady, Saiss - Doherty, Moutinho, Neves, Vinagre - Traore, Jimenez, Jota

My prediction:

This should be a tight match between two sides that have been quite strong lately, I don't expect to see many goals and I think this game will end 1-1.

Here are the odds for the match at NetBet
