Everton defender John Stones has handed in a formal transfer request following Chelsea's unsuccessful attempts to buy him this summer. The Blues have made three bids, first 20 million pounds, then 26 million pounds and eventually 30 million pounds, all rejected by Everton.
Toffees manager Roberto Martinez has claimed on a few occasions that Stones will not be sold this summer. The club have not yet reacted to the transfer request. Stones was brought in at Everton in February 2013 from Barnsley for 3 million pounds.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is keen on adding some strength to his central defence after substituting John Terry during their 3-0 loss at Manchester City. Stones will most likely be included in the England squad for next month's matches against San Marino and Switzerland, both official Euro 2016 qualifiers. Ironically, the first match for Chelsea after the international break will be against Everton at Goodison Park on September 12.
The bookmakers seem convinced that Stones will join Chelsea before the transfer window closes, here are the odds at SkyBet on his club after September 1st:
Chelsea - 1.17 Everton - 4.5 Man United - 21.00

It was a mistake from everton managment and manager that they didnt sell stones , because they are in the middle of the table , they could achive that even without him and they would get a lot of money for him (30million pound) . After 2015-2016 season will be over his price is for sure a lot smaller.

I think that is not smart for Everton to keep unhappy player in their squad. Nothing good can come from that. I am sure that they should sell him while they can get great money because in few years he will leave when his contract ends and Everton will end up with nothing. I understand that they need him because Stones is great player but they always can bring a substitution.

John Stones is fantastic young defender and he is player for big scene. Chelsea is big club and they always want to have great players like Stones. He is only 21 years old and he is already on top level. I think that he will be key player in Chelsea defensive line for next 10 seasons. He knows that, and because of that...

Jose Mourinho is very epxerienced and he knows that his defence is struggling this season. His defenders like Terry ,Cahill and Ivanovic are far from young and he must think about a future and it is best to find now replacements for them.John Stones is good even now but he will improve a lot, there is no doubt about that.

I think that Everton have to sell Stones especially after his request. I've read that Chelsea are now on a 34mil bid for him so Everton should be insane to refuse such a deal. Obviously he want this move and there is no guaranties that he will be so highly valued at the market next season so I really think that they just...

After last great season many teams wanted to sign John Stones, but the most active in making that desire to come true were Chelsea. After last great season many teams wanted to sign John Stones, but the most active in making that desire to come true were Chelsea. As this article says Everton didn't want to sell him and they've turned down their offer. Now after this request by Stones there are two options, to sell him to Chelsea, or keep him out of field and "destroy" his career. I hope that they'll find a way to make an agreement.
