Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made a generous donation of 1 million euros to help fight the coronavirus pandemic in his native Spain. Guardiola is currently with his family in Barcelona, his home city, and the donation was made to the Medical College of Barcelona and the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation. Spain currently has around 40,000 people infected and over 2,500 have already died because of the virus. The money that Guardiola donated will go towards buying medical equipment and protective material for hospital staff.
"Pep Guardiola has made a donation of one million euros to the Fundacio Angel Soler Daniel for the acquisition and supply of health equipment to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic," the Foundation revealed in a statement. "The fundraising campaign led by the Official College of Doctors of Barcelona and managed through the Foundation, is aimed at obtaining cash donations from doctors who are members of the college and the general population to buy health equipment which is currently lacking in hospitals in Catalonia. It will also help to finance the alternative 3D production of respirator masks and other protective items for health workers."
Football superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have reportedly donated 1 million euros each to coronavirus campaigns this week. Media in Spain reported that Lionel Messi donated the money to a couple of hospitals, one in Barcelona and the other in his native Argentina, while Cristiano Ronaldo directed his money to three intensive care units at hospitals in Lisbon and Porto. Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski has also donated 1 million euros to fight the coronavirus pandemic in Germany.

Many of the top footballers, coaches and high floor managers across Europe have been doing that lately and it's of course an important contribution in a tough times not only for the sport teams but the society in general.Show more
