Ashley Cole has announced he is set to leave Chelsea this summer as his contract runs out following eight years at the club. The left back has retired from international football after being left out of England's World Cup squad. Here's what he said on Twitter: "I am weighing up my options for playing next season with my agent and sadly it does not look like Chelsea will be one of them. Thank u Chelsea FC for making my 8 years there a pleasure to work all the staff and players, we've been through a lot, good and bad. And of course the fans, how do I start, I can only say thank u for giving the boys confidence to win some amazing trophies, and once again.
Cole has not played much this season, just 17 Premier League appearances, as he was kept out of the starting eleven by Cesar Azpilicueta. Another two veteran players have their Chelsea contracts run out this summer: Frank Lampard and John Terry. Captain Terry has signed a one-year extension but Lampard's future is still in balance.
There are several clubs interested in signing Ashley Cole already, a player that has won a league title, four FA Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League with Chelsea. Here are the odds at SkyBet for an Ashley Cole transfer this summer:
Monaco - 8/13
Manchester City - 4/1
Liverpool - 6/1
Real Madrid - 8/1
Manchester Utd - 12/1
