Premier League club Everton have completed the signing of Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne for a fee of 18 million pounds. The 25-year-old French international has 21 caps for the national team but was not in the squad that won the FIFA World Cup earlier this summer. However, he did make Didier Deschamps' standby list. Digne had joined Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 and he has won the domestic league title with both clubs. The left-back has also spent a full season in Serie A in 2015-2016, when he was loaned out by PSG to AS Roma. Last season he made just 20 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, scoring one goal.
"Everton is a big club with a great history. I want to play games, win games and excite the fans with the quality of our football," Lucas Digne said. "I played good football in Rome and I played well, too, in Barcelona. I progressed a lot as a player and as a person by playing with the best players in the world. When you play with the best players it helps you build your character and, of course, it helps on the training ground and during games, too, because you want to give the best of you. I want to show my best football here and discover the best league in the world. Everybody loves the Richarlison for 40 million pounds.
Everton are 7/2 at Bet365 to finish in the Premier League top six next season.
