Defending Premier League champions Manchester City are looking to extended their winning streak to three games when they travel to meet newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Saturday. The last direct meeting between the two sides was in the League Cup in 2017 and Wolves came very close to an upset then, they held the Citizens to a goalless draw for 120 minutes but lost the penalty shoot-out. Overall, Manchester City have won six of the last eight direct matches, the last time Wolves defeated Man City was in 2010.
Wolves had a rough start to the Premier League season, first they fought back to claim a 2-2 draw at home against Everton and then lost 2-0 at Leicester last weekend. They conceded both goals against the Foxes in the first half and were unable to fight back despite having the numerical superiority in the second half after Jamie Vardy got sent off. Matt Doherty, the victim of Vardy's tackle, is an injury doubt for this match, and Ivan Cavaleiro is also expected to miss out. New signing Adama Traore made his debut from the bench last weekend and might be given a starting berth this time.
Manchester City are still a dominant force in the Premier League, they seem to be hungry for even more glory after having broken all kinds of records last season. They have secured three wins out of three so far this season, starting with the Community Shield success over Chelsea, scoring 10 goals and conceding just one. Last weekend they hammered Huddersfield 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium, with Sergio Aguero bagging a hat-trick. Manager Pep Guardiola does have some injury concerns as influential midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will be out for around four months, but there is enough quality in the squad to produce the results. Danilo, Eliaquim Mangala and Claudio Bravo are also injured.
Probable line-ups:
Wolves: Rui Patricio - Bennett, Coady, Boly - Traore, Moutinho, Neves, Jonny - Jota - Jimenez, Bonatini
Man City: Ederson - Stones, Kompany, Laporte - Walker, D. Silva, Fernandinho, B. Silva, Mendy - Aguero, Jesus
My prediction: Manchester City to win 3-1, they are just too good for most teams in the league at the moment.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Man City win - 1.22
