Second-placed Liverpool return to action after the international break with a tricky away match on Saturday, the Reds visit Watford at Vicarage Road. Last season the two sides produced great entertainment in this fixture, it ended 3-3 as Liverpool fought back from 1-0 and 2-1 down, then built a 3-2 lead only to see it vanish in the 93rd minute. The reverse fixture was much simpler for the Reds, they won it 5-0 thanks to a delightful display from Mohamed Salah, who produced four goals and an assist in that game. Overall, Liverpool have won four of the last six direct matches, while Watford have not won against the Reds since 2015.
Watford are having a decent season so far, they are in seventh place in the Premier League table after having won six of their twelve matches so far. Their last result before the international break was a 1-1 draw at Southampton, a necessary result for the Hornets after having lost 1-0 at struggling Newcastle before that. Etienne Capoue will be available again after having served his suspension, but Will Hughes and Daryl Janmaat are major injury doubts ahead of Saturday's match. Sebastian Prodl and Tom Cleverley are still injured and they won't be in the squad for this weekend's game.
Liverpool definitely seem to be able to push for the Premier League title this season, they are still unbeaten after twelve matches and they are just two points behind leaders Manchester City. They have recorded nine victories and three draws in the Premier League so far this season, and all those three draws were against big teams: Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea. Before the international break they won
2-0 at home against Fulham to bounce back from the shocking Champions League defeat at Crvena Zvezva a few days earlier. Jordan Henderson has picked up a slight thigh injury while on international duty and is a doubt for Saturday's match, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains sidelined.
Probable line-ups:
Watford: Foster - Femenia, Cathcart, Kabasele, Holebas - Chalobah, Capoue - Doucoure, Pereyra - Deeney, Deulofeu
Liverpool: Alisson - Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson - Milner, Fabinho - Shaqiri, Firmino, Mane - Salah
My prediction: Liverpool to win 2-1, it will be a difficult fixture for the Reds but they should be able to score one more than the Hornets.
