Liverpool are looking to get back to winning ways after two consecutive draws when they face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday. Last season the Cherries gave Liverpool more than a few headaches, they won 4-3 at home and also snatched a 2-2 draw at Anfield Road. Two seasons ago it was Liverpool who dominated the direct encounters, they won both league matches and also defeated Bournemouth 1-0 in the League Cup. Overall, Liverpool have won five of the last seven direct meetings.
Bournemouth are doing pretty well this season, but they have not won any of their last five league matches and if that poor streak continues they might slide dangerously close to the relegation zone. Last weekend they recorded a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace and in midweek they played a good match at Manchester United but eventually lost 1-0. They are now 14th in the league table, just two points above the bottom three. Adam Federici, Tyrone Mings and Brad Smith are injured and won't play on Sunday.
Liverpool had a fine three-match winning streak in all competitions going on before last weekend, but they were held to a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby before a disappointing goalless draw against West Brom in midweek. The Reds dropped to fifth place in the Premier League table, tied on 31 points with Tottenham and Burnley and just one point above seventh-placed Arsenal. Adam Lallana has returned to training following an injury but this match might come too soon for him, while Joel Matip, Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno remain sidelined.
Probable line-ups:
Bournemouth: Begovic - Smith, S. Cook, Ake, Daniels - Ibe, L. Cook, Surman, Pugh - King - Defoe
Liverpool: Mignolet - Gomez, Klavan, Lovren, Robertson - Milner, Henderson, Coutinho - Salah, Firmino, Mane
My prediction: Liverpool to win 3-2.
