The 2012 Grand National may be seen as a historical day in sports if the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Synchronised is first across the finish line. The Grand National is set to take place at the Aintree Racecourse on April 14, 2012. The infamous race kicks off the Aintree horse racing festival that begins on Thursday, April 12th with Liverpool Day.
Synchronised is this year's favorite to take the top spot and win the double in the prestigious National Hunt race. It has been years since a horse won both races. The last record of this was in 1934 when Golden Miller won the dynamic duo.
J P McManus is the proud owner of Synchronised with Jonjo O'Neil as the trainer of the 9 year old horse. Jockey, A P McCoy, rode Synchronised to a glorious victory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the two will be reunited in this year's races. Backing for Synchronised has increased at online and traditional sportsbooks after the news that they will go for the double was made public.
With all the attention and backing from British punters, the odds for Synchronised to win the 2012 Grand National went from 10/1 to 6/1 within a few days but the final starting price may drop even further.
