Less than a month after becoming the official betting partner of English football club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, online bookmaker, 21Bet has just announced more big news. The UK-licensed sportsbook will take on a new role as the official sponsor of professional British boxer, Charlie Edwards, following him through his next five fights.
Edwards just recently entered the professional world of boxing, only a mere, 18 months ago. He is just 23 years-old, and is from Surrey. He was awarded with the English title last year, after having smoked the competition in his 5th professional fight.
He is scheduled to compete in his 9th professional fight against former light-flyweight world champion, John Riel Casimero this Saturday at the O2 Arena, located in London. The winner will take on the International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight world title.
CEO for 21Bet, Richard Hogg, commented, "We're very excited about our new sponsorship deal with Charlie Edwards, which will see 21Bet branding featured on his shorts for the next five bouts. It's great to be supporting British talent and it will be great to support his continued success as the business grows.”
Hogg continued, "Charlie is such a prodigious talent who mirrors much of what we're about, UK focused, emerging and in the process of realising the huge amount of potential he has. We're fully expecting Charlie to be the UK's next World Champion and we want our punters to champion Charlie much like we are, which is why we are guaranteeing the best price in the industry for him on Saturday.”
Edwards also commented on the recent agreement, stating “The IBF Flyweight World title fight is the first of my career and the sponsorship from 21Bet is a real boost. I think they've recognised the drive and ambition I take into the ring with me every time I fight."
