LeidaSports is a digital sports company that is in charge of providing sports data along with betting services. The breaking news, released on 19th April in Beijing, China is that the company has secured a $1.5 million investment from Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group and Handnice Capital. LeidaSports will merge with one of the major Chinese sports application Sports Craze, which has an active base for more than 5 million users. Namely, Sports Craze will serve as a LeidaSports subsidiary. The two companies will provide sports data along with different sports content throughout China. LeidaSports' existing partner Sporttrader, a leader in providing sports and betting-related information, will continue to supply LeidaSports with the necessary data. This merge is going to provide the Chinese customers with a wide variety of virtual sports games as well as play-for- fun sportsbook using the Leidasports/Sports Craze network services.
Both of the brands will cooperate in order to provide an array of betting services for the Chinese Super League domestic football competition. People can access the betting services on the Leidasports/Sports Craze website and mobile application along with other services regarding the entertainment and e-sports area.
Kai Sun, co-founder of LeidaSports points out that the liaison between these two companies is going to lead to rich sporting data and games based on European basketball and football league. He compares the experience with the English Premier League saying that sports fans from all around the globe will have the chance to experience the joy and passion that matches can bring.
Soon after the announcement of the deal between LeidaSports /Sports Craze and Alibaba subsidiary U.C Web there comes the confirmation of the investment and new launch. Alibaba subsidiary U.C Web is a company that supplies over 100 million customers with the hosted sports data. The deal is the provision within the services to the Toutiao, Ailibaba Lottery, Sohu Lottery and Heilongjiang Sports Lottery websites.
Alibaba Group merged two companies Sina and Yunfeng Capital to set up Ali Sports in September last year. Alibaba Group goal was to transform the industry of sports in China. In November the same year they acquired one of the major Chinese video streaming companies Youku to support the project.
According to their plan Ali Sports will cooperate with the Leida Group on leading sports events such as the North American NFL American football league and National Collegiate Athletic Association college sports conferences.
