Amaya Withdraws its DFS Brand from Florida and Nevada
In response to the issues surrounding the legality of the daily fantasy sports industry in the US, Amaya Inc. has decided to limit real money games via its StarsDraft brand to certain states during the review process. Amaya said in a statement to the press: “We have previously called for state regulation and licensing of DFS to ensure consumer protection and strict government oversight of operators. Prior to the launch of StarsDraft and based on a thorough review of the regulatory environment at the time, Amaya decided not to launch StarsDraft in jurisdictions where many of our competitors continue to operate today, including Michigan.” Amaya has withdrawn from Florida and Nevada after the Nevada Gaming Control Board's (NGCB) announced its requirement for licensing but will still be available to punters in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Kansas and Maryland. “We will actively monitor developments and work with all states interested in implementing clear guidelines for the operation of daily fantasy sports in their jurisdiction”, said Amaya.
