Boyle to Expand its Betting Shops to UK Market

Owner of Boyle Sports, John Boyle spoke with Irish Times and revealed interest in the British retail betting market since the acquisition of Tom Flood Bookmakers this year. Boyle spoke of a 5 year plan to infiltrate the UK betting shop market. With a current 192 retail betting shops throughout Ireland and a staff exceeding 1,200 employees plus its online and mobile ventures, the company rings in more than a billion Euros annually. There will also be some investigation of UK acquisition possibilities as Boyle builds a presence in the British market. "If the right acquisition knocked on our door, we're looking for opportunities over there, so we expect in the next five years to have a presence in retail," Boyle said. “You don't know what opportunities are going to knock on your door. There's three, four, different companies that could become available over the next number of years, and if you can show that you are good at retail in Ireland, you can do it anywhere in the world.”
