Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund sign Erling Braut Haaland

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haaland, probably one of the best youth prospects in the world at the moment. The striker joins from Austrian club RB Salzburg on a deal until 2024 after Dortmund have paid his release clause worth 20 million euro. He is the son of former Manchester City player Alf-Inge Haaland and only spent one year at Salzburg after having joined them from Molde in January. 

Erling Braut Haaland is just 19 years old but has impressed the football world this season, scoring 16 goals in 14 appearances in Austria's top division and a further eight goals in the Champions League group stage. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managed Haaland at Molde and tried to bring him at Old Trafford, but eventually the player decided to accept the contract offer from Borussia Dortmund. He will join his new side on January 3. 

"I had intensive discussions with the club management and the sports management, especially with Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and trainer Lucien Favre," Erling Haaland said. "There was a feeling right from the start that I absolutely wanted to switch to this club, go this route and play football in this incredible Dortmund atmosphere in front of more than 80,000 spectators. I'm already burning for it." 

Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke was quite please he managed to grab Haaland's signature considering that Man United and Juventus also competed for the young striker. Watzke said: "Despite many offers from absolute top clubs from all over Europe, Erling Haaland decided on the sporting task at Borussia Dortmund and the perspective that we have shown him. Our tenacity has paid off." 

Borussia Dortmund are currently 21/2 at NetBet to win the Bundesliga title this season, they are fourth in the league table at the moment, seven points behind leaders RB Leipzig.
