Championship side Huddersfield will be looking to produce an upset in the FA Cup last sixteen round as they face Manchester City at Galpharm Stadium on Saturday. The two teams have not met since the 1999-2000 season, when both sides were playing in the Championship. Huddersfield beat Man City 1-0 away from home at the time and the reverse fixture ended 1-1.
Huddersfield have been in excellent form lately, with six consecutive wins in all competitions and twelve wins out of their last fourteen matches. They are third in the Championship table, but with second-placed Brighton just four points away manager David Wagner and his players are definitely hoping to earn promotion to the Premier League. In the previous rounds of the FA Cup the Huddersfield manager has rotated his squad and that might happen again on Saturday.
Manchester City are on a four-game winning streak in all competitions and on Monday they moved up to second place in the Premier League table thanks to a 2-0 victory at Bournemouth. Manager Pep Guardiola will be without Ilkay Gundogan, who will most likely miss out the remainder of the season, and also without Gabriel Jesus who will be out for around three months. The Spanish boss will most likely choose to give some game time to the players that have not featured regularly in his starting eleven.
Probable line-ups:
Huddersfield: Coleman - Cranie, Hudson, Stankovic, Holmes-Dennis - Billing, Whitehead - Lolley, Payne, Brown - Kachunga
Man City: Bravo - Sagna, Otamendi, Kompany, Clichy - Fernando - Navas, Toure, Garcia, Nolito - Iheanacho
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
