Liverpool are looking to bounce back after Monday's shocking defeat against Swansea when they face West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup at Anfield Road on Saturday. It won't be easy for the Reds, though, as the Baggies held them to a goalless draw at Anfield Road in the Premier League in December. Moreover, Liverpool won just two of the last six direct meetings as West Brom always seemed capable of finding a way to frustrate their better-paid opponents. However, Liverpool did win both matches against West Brom last season.
Liverpool are a living contradiction in the Premier League, they inflicted leaders Manchester City their first domestic defeat of the season but then they got stunned by bottom side Swansea just eight days later. Monday's 1-0 defeat at Swansea was a shock for the Reds after five consecutive wins in all competitions and eighteen matches unbeaten, and the result left them fourth in the Premier League table. Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Bogdan remain injured for the Reds, but Jordan Henderson and Alberto Moreno could return to action.
West Brom have been in decent form lately, they have lost just one of their last six matches in all competitions and are unbeaten in their last three games. Last weekend they secured a good 1-1 draw at Everton after consecutive wins against Exeter in the FA Cup and Brighton in the Premier League. Central defender Jonny Evans is linked with a move to either Arsenal or Manchester City during the January transfer window so he will probably not be risked in this match since he has picked up a slight knock, while James Morrison and Nacer Chadli remain out of contention.
Probable line-ups:
Liverpool: Mignolet - Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Klavan, Robertson - Milner, Henderson, Lallana - Salah, Solanke, Mane
West Brom: Foster - Nyom, McAuley, Hegazi, Gibbs - Brunt, Livermore, Krychowiak, McClean - Rodriguez, Robson-Kanu
My prediction: Liverpool to win 2-0.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
