Defending Premier League champions Manchester City will try to advance in the FA Cup as well after having qualified for the League Cup final, they will face fellow Premiership side Burnley at the Etihad Stadium in the fourth round on Saturday. The Citizens had a pretty easy task against the Clarets in the Premier League in October, they won the match 5-0 with goals from Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Fernandinho, Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane. That was the fifth victory in the last six direct matches for Manchester City, but Burnley surely remember that they have defeated the Citizens 1-0 at Turf Moor in 2015.
Manchester City have booked their place in the League Cup final with a routine 1-0 victory at Burton earlier this week, a tame win after the 9-0 hammering that they pulled off in the first leg. That result extended their winning streak to seven matches in all competitions and they have also recorded five consecutive clean sheets. The previous round of the FA Cup saw Manchester City hammer Championship side Rotherham 7-0, while last weekend the Citizens won 3-0 at Premier League bottom side Huddersfield. Claudio Bravo and Vincent Kompany are injured for the home side.
Burnley are not having a great season so far, at least not if you compare it with the last campaign. Last season they finished seventh in the Premier League and had the chance to play in an European competition for the first time since the 1966-1967 season, but now they are just above the relegation zone. The FA Cup could be a chance for the Clarets to reach Europe again, but they will need to pull off a few big upsets to get there. In the previous round Burnley defeated Barnsley 1-0, while last weekend they grabbed a goalless draw at Watford in the Premier League. Aaron Lennon and Matthew Lowton are injured, while Phil Bardsley and Johann Gudmundsson are doubts.
Probable line-ups:
Man City: Ederson - Walker, Stones, Laporte, Mendy - De Bruyne, Fernandinho, D. Silva - Sterling, Jesus, Sane
Burnley: Pope - Bardsley, Gibson, Long, Taylor - McNeil, Cork, Westwood, Hendrick, Brady - Wood
My prediction: Manchester City to win 2-0, it should be pretty straightforward for the Citizens.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
