FIFA Confederations Cup: Cameroon vs Chile preview
Football fans from all over the world should witness great entertainment on Sunday evening as African champions Cameroon take on Copa America holders Chile in Moscow, the first match in Group B of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. The two teams have met just once before, at the 1998 World Cup in France, and Cameroon managed to hold Chile to a 1-1 draw but the Africans finished bottom of the group table while Chile qualified from second spot. Cameroon have won the Africa Cup of Nations this year after beating Egypt 2-1 in the final with goals from Nicholas N'Koulou and Vincent Aboubakar. They have lost just two of their last 17 matches, but their last friendly match before the Confederations Cup was a disaster as they got hammered 4-0 by Colombia. Left-back Ambroise Oyongo will not be able to play at this tournament after having picked up an injury during the last friendly match, so Ernest Mabouka will probably fill that position. Chile have won the Copa America last year after defeating Argentina on penalties in the final, but after that they lost three of their eight matches in the World Cup qualifying campaign and will have to sweat during the remaining four matches to get their tickets for Russia 2018. In the last warm-up friendly before the Confederations Cup they lost 3-2 in Romania. Goalkeeper and team captain Claudio Bravo has not played since April due to an injury and will probably sit this one out, while star striker Alexis Sanchez has picked up a slight knock in training. Probable line-ups: Cameroon: Ondoa - Fai, Ngadeu, Teikeu, Mabouka - Bassong, Siani, Sutchuin, Moukandjo - Zoua, Aboubakar Chile: Herrera - Isla, Medel, Jara, Beausejour - Aranguiz, Hernandez, Vidal - Fuenzalida, Vargas, Sanchez My prediction: Chile to win 3-2. Here are the odds for the match at Bet365: Cameroon win - 6.50 Draw - 4.00 Chile win - 1.60
