FIFA Confederations Cup: Germany vs Chile preview
Reigning World Champions Germany take on Copa America winners Chile on Thursday in Kazan in a match that should decide which of the two teams will win Group B at the FIFA Confederations Cup. The two nations have last met in a friendly match in 2014, which Germany won 1-0 with a goal from Mario Gotze. Before that, there were just three direct meetings between the two sides between the 1960's and the 1980's and Germany won all three of them. Germany had an unconvincing debut at the FIFA Confederations Cup, they were expected to grab an easy victory over Australia but they barely won 3-2 with goals from Lars Stindl, Julian Draxler and Leon Goretzka. The result extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games, the last time they lost a match was at Euro 2016 against France. Head coach Joachim Loew has announced that he will be making some changes in the first eleven, starting with goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen who will replace Bernd Leno. Chile started their campaign at the Confederations Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Cameroon, a result that almost guarantees their qualification if they manage to beat Australia as expected in the last match of the group stage. Chile have won just half of their last six matches and lost twice, including a 3-2 defeat in Romania in a warm-up friendly before the Confederations Cup. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has finally recovered from injury but he will most likely be on the bench because he has not played since April. Probable line-ups: Germany: Ter Stegen - Kimmich, Mustafi, Rudiger - Brandt, Draxler, Can, Goretzka, Hector - Werner, Stindl Chile: Herrera - Isla, Medel, Jara, Beausejour - Aranguiz, Diaz, Vidal - Fuenzalida, Vargas, Sanchez My prediction: Germany to win 2-1. Here are the odds for the match at Bet365: Germany win - 2.75 Draw - 3.60 Chile win - 2.60
