France are looking to remain at the top of Group C and all they need to do is avoid defeat on Tuesday when they face Denmark at Luzhniki Arena in Moscow. Denmark have good memories from their last World Cup match against France, it was in 2002 and Denmark won it 2-0, sending France home at the end of the group stage. Since then the two nations played four friendly matches and France won all of them, scoring eight goals overall and conceding just one. Overall, France won eight of the eleven direct matches against Denmark so far.
Denmark have done a solid job so far at the 2018 World Cup, even though they have been quite lucky to grab a 1-1 draw against Australia last time out. They started the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Peru, so now they are second in the group table, two points behind France and three ahead of Australia. A draw against France would guarantee Denmark a place in the next round, but if they lose Australia would qualify if they beat Peru. William Kvist is still out of contention after having picked up an injury during the match against Peru.
France have not impressed at the 2018 World Cup so far but somehow they managed to win both their matches, 2-1 against Australia and 1-0 over Peru. They have already secured their place in the next round, but they will probably want to make sure they finish at the top of the group in order to avoid a clash with in-form Croatia in the first knockout round since Croatia are almost certain of finishing at the top of Group D. Djibril Sidibe and Samuel Umtiti are injury doubts for head coach Didier Deschamps ahead of this match.
Probable line-ups:
Denmark: Schmeichel - Dalsgaard, Kjaer, Christensen, Larsen - Delaney, Schone - Poulsen, Eriksen, Sisto - Jorgensen
France: Lloris - Pavard, Varane, Kimpembe, Hernandez - Kante, Pogba - Mbappe, Griezmann, Matuidi - Giroud
My prediction: 0-0 draw, the result that both teams need.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
