German province issues more permits despite latest actions to repeal a regulatory law
By approving five latest applications for an online gambling license, the German province of Schleswig Holstein has now reached the number of a dozen issued online gambling licenses. The recipients of sports betting licenses that expire on August 2018 include 888, Ladbrokes, two Admiral Sportswetten sites and Cashpoint Malta.
In spite of the tenuous legal position of the Schleswig Holstein coalition government there are still at least another 22 applications for sports betting licenses alone under active consideration, with two of the applicants currently suing the government for the delay.
“In addition, 22 applicants are seeking a licence for online casino games such as poker and roulette,” a regulatory authorities spokesman said on Tuesday.
As Interior Minister Andreas Breitner previously explained, Schleswig Holstein is obliged to consider and act upon applications until the European Commission has approved the proposed law repealing the regulatory regime.
