The Brazilian football team finally impressed their eager fans at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, they ended the group stage with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Denmark. Gabriel Barbosa opened the scoring before new Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus doubled the advantage. Luan made it 3-0 before Barbosa wrapped things up and allowed Brazil to win Group A.
There have been plenty of surprises in the tournament so far, including the elimination of 2012 champions Mexico. The winners of the gold medals in London lost 1-0 to South Korea, while Argentina also missed out on qualification after a 1-1 draw against Honduras. Brazil will take on Colombia in the quarter-finals, while Denmark finished second in the group thanks to the 1-1 draw between South Africa and Iraq.
Neymar has been unable to score yet but he did play a bit better against Denmark. The first two group matches for Brazil, against South Africa and Iraq, ended goalless. Germany on the other hand ended their group campaign with a 10-0 thrashing of Fiji but finished second in Group C. Portugal, who won Group D, will face Germany in the quarter-finals, while South Korea will take on Honduras and Nigeria will face Denmark.
Brazil are still the favourites to win the football gold medals, they are 10/11 at BetFred to win the tournament, while Portugal are 11/2 to win it.
