Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua have confirmed the signing of Argentinian forward Carlos Tevez. The deal makes the player, who formerly played for big clubs like Manchester United and Juventus, the highest paid player in the world. Media reports claim he will earn around 610,000 pounds per week in China, while his club, Boca Juniors, will receive 9 million pounds as transfer fee.
This is another big move for Chinese clubs after Shanghai SIPG confirmed the transfer of Chelsea midfielder Oscar last week for no less than 60 million pounds. Shanghai Shenhua, who just bought Tevez, finished fourth in the Chinese Super League, while the championship was won by Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao. Boca Juniors released a short message after the deal was confirmed: "Good luck Carlitos. You will always be in our hearts."
Former Premier League forwards Demba Ba and Obafemi Martins will play alongside Tevez at Shenhua, while their head coach is former Chelsea player Gustavo Poyet. The Chinese Super League is full of star players, including Hulk, Ramires, Paulinho, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Jackson Martinez. We can find big names among the managers as well, including Luiz Felipe Scolari, Andre Villas-Boas and former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.
