Patrice Evra has completed a £1.2m move to Italian champions Juventus from Manchester United. The France left-back, aged 33, has signed a two-year contract with the Serie A giants, ending his eight-and-a-half-year spell at Old Trafford. "Playing for Manchester United has been a privilege, a dream come true, and my time there has been so memorable," he said.
He joined United in January 2006 from Monaco for £5.5m and won five Premier League titles. The player was the one who asked to leave when Juventus approached United over his availability. His first team place at United would have been in doubt after the Old Trafford club signed Luke Shaw for 27 million pounds.
"After a great deal of thought I have decided the time is right for me to leave," Evra said. "It is the biggest decision of my career as this club is, and will always remain, in my heart. An immense thank you to Sir Alex for making it all possible, for giving me the privilege to be a captain and to understand that nobody is bigger than the club. My biggest thanks go to the fans. We have had some fantastic times together and every single time I stepped out in that shirt I knew I was playing for a very special club."
Juventus are 6/5 at Bet365 to win the Serie A title again next season.
