Former NFL Player Found Dead
The NFL has been hit with tragic news in recent days, with the death of former professional football player for the New England Patriots, Aaron Hernandez. On April 19th, he was found dead in his prison cell at just 27 years old, after apparently hanging himself. The former NFL star, who helped lead the Patriots to Super Bowl XLVI, had been serving a life sentence for murder, at the time of his death, at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Massachusetts. However, just days before, he has been acquitted for the double murder crime. According to Department of Correction spokesman, Christopher Fallon, Hernandez attached a bed sheet to his cell window. Numerous items were found jammed into the cell door, believed to have been an attempt to block the door from the inside. Law enforcement officials reported to ABC News that written across his forehead was the following Bible verse: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Officials also reported that there were no traces of a suicide note, and that there had been no events or actions prior to his death that would've lead anyone to believe Hernandez was planning on or capable of taking his own life. Both his family and former agent, Brian Murphy, are in shock and, despite the evidence, are not convinced the act was a suicide. Hernandez's mother plans to move forward with a wrongful death lawsuit. He played for the Patriots from 2010 to 2012, being released from the team due to his arrest in the murder case for which he was imprisoned.
