The 220th episode of the Milan Derby, also known as Derby della Madonnina, will take place at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on Wednesday as AC Milan take on rivals Inter in the Italian Cup quarter-finals. Inter have won 78 of the 219 derbies so far, not counting friendly matches, but they have won just one of the last four editions while AC Milan have secured two victories in the last four direct matches.
Despite having spent heavily on new players last summer, AC Milan are having a poor season so far and head coach Vincenzo Montella got sacked as a result. Former midfielder Gennaro Gattuso took his place, but AC Milan have lost their last two league matches and dropped to 11th place in the Serie A table. Andrea Conti is the only injury concern for coach Gattuso, while Suso will be available again after suspension.
Inter had a fantastic start to the season and they even held the top spot in the Serie A table after having gone sixteen matches unbeaten. But after that fantastic run came two consecutive league defeats, and Luciano Spalletti's team dropped to third place, five points behind leaders Juventus. Miranda and Danilo D'Ambrosio are out of contention for Wednesday's match due to injuries.
Probable line-ups:
AC Milan: Donnarumma - Abate, Bonucci, Romagnoli, Rodriguez - Kessie, Biglia, Bonaventura - Suso, Cutrone, Borini
Inter: Padelli - Nagatomo, Skriniar, Ranocchia, Cancelo - Vecino, Gagliardini - Candreva, Valero, Perisic - Icardi
My prediction: Inter to win 2-1.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
AC Milan win - 3.29
Draw - 3.39
Inter win - 2.14
