Juventus are targeting a domestic double as they face AC Milan in the Italian Cup final at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on Wednesday. The Bianconeri have already beaten AC Milan twice in Serie A this season, 2-0 in Milan with a double from Gonzalo Higuain and 3-1 in Turin. Juventus have won four of the last five direct matches in all competitions and AC Milan have tasted victory just once in the last eleven matches against Juventus. The two teams have last met in the Italian Cup final in 2016 and Juventus won the trophy on that occasion thanks to an extra-time goal from Alvaro Morata.
Juventus have almost secured their seventh consecutive Serie A title, they only need to get one more point from the last two league matches of the season to get the crown once again. But before that, they can grab the Coppa Italia as well. The Bianconeri were in serious danger of losing their top spot in the league table after having lost at home to Napoli, but the 3-2 victory at Inter a week later turned things back on the right track for Massimiliano Allegri and his men. Benedikt Höwedes is injured and won't be able to take part in the final, while fellow central defender Giorgio Chiellini is suspended.
AC Milan have done a pretty good job this season, considering that they had a terrible start which led to the sacking of head coach Vincenzo Montella. New boss Gennaro Gattuso steered the club back towards the top half of the league table and they are now in sixth place, a spot which would guarantee them a place in next season's UEFA Europa League. However, seventh-placed Atalanta are just one point behind, so the Rossoneri might avoid some unnecessary late-season thrills by winning the Coppa Italia on Wednesday. Andrea Conti is the only injury concern for AC Milan ahead of the final.
Probable line-ups:
Juventus: Buffon - Lichtsteiner, Benatia, Rugani, Alex Sandro - Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi - Dybala, Douglas Costa, Higuain
AC Milan: Donnarumma - Calabria, Bonucci, Romagnoli, Rodriguez - Kessie, Locatelli, Bonaventura - Suso, Cutrone, Calhanoglu.
My prediction: 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
