Barcelona will be looking to bounce back after this week's Champions League defeat but they will face a tough task on Sunday as they visit in-form Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. The two teams have already met this season in the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona dominated the event and won 5-0 on aggregate. Sevilla did win the home game in the league last season, it ended 2-1.
Sevilla are on a seven-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, with six wins collected in the process. After having lost both the European Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup at the start of the season, Sevilla lost just one of their 14 matches, 3-1 at Athletic Bilbao. Gabriel Mercado is suspended, Benoit Tremoulinas and Michael Krohn-Dehli are injured, while Samir Nasri and Nico Pareja might also miss out due to injury issues.
Bercelona lost 3-1 at Manchester City in the Champions League, a rather painful defeat as they were pretty much dominated and unrecognizable in the second half. They have already lost two La Liga matches so far this season, they are two points behind rivals Real Madrid, so any further slip-up might prove costly. Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba will face late fitness tests before this match, while Andres Iniesta and Jeremy Mathieu will surely miss out.
Probable line-ups:
Sevilla: Rico - Mariano, Pareja, Rami, Escudero - Iborra, N'Zonzi - Vazquez, Correa, Vitolo - Vietto
Barcelona: Ter Stegen - Roberto, Mascherano, Umtiti, Digne - Rakitic, Busquets, Rafinha - Messi, Suarez, Neymar
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
