Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele, one of the most expensive transfers in the history of football, suffered a fresh injury last weekend and will be out for up to a month. Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund last summer for 97 million pounds, becoming the third most expensive player in history. However, he didn't get to play too much for his new side as he sustained a serious hamstring injury in September and had to go through surgery and recovery before returning on the pitch in January.
Overall, Ousmane Dembele made just four appearances for Barcelona. The club issued a statement about the injury on Monday: "Tests have confirmed the player has suffered a hamstring injury of the semitendinosus muscle that does not affect the area operated on earlier in the season. The injury will mean he will be out for a period of around three to four weeks." Dembele was supposed to be the replacement for superstar striker Neymar, who left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Barcelona will also be without new signing Philippe Coutinho in the coming weeks, the Brazilian joined the Blaugrana from Liverpool for 142 million pounds earlier this month but he has a thigh problem and is unlikely to play for his new club until February. Nevertheless, Barcelona have secured a 4-2 victory at Real Sociedad last weekend and extended their lead over rivals Real Madrid to nineteen points, while second-placed Atletico Madrid are nine points behind the current league leaders.
Barcelona are 1/80 at Betfair to win the LaLiga title this season.
