Barcelona superstar Neymar was excused from training today by head coach Ernesto Valverde and was given permission by the club to discuss a potential move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian star arrived at the Barcelona training camp on Wednesday, spent around 40 minutes with his team-mates and told them that he wants to leave the club. Head coach Valverde then allowed him to leave the training session in order to "sort out his future".
Paris Saint-Germain would have to pay a world record fee of 222 million euros, or about 197 million pounds, as that is the release clause in Neymar's contract with Barcelona. The 25-year-old's agent, Wagner Ribeiro revealed on Twitter that he is currently in Paris, so the negotiations seem to be ongoing. Last year the agent said that PSG offered Neymar an outstanding salary worth 650,000 pounds per week, tax-free.
Neymar moved to Barcelona from Brazilian club Santos in 2013 and the Spanish giants spent just over 48 million pounds for the transfer. Last year Neymar signed a new five-year deal with Barcelona as he seemed to be enjoying playing alongside other superstars like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. The Brazilian has scored 105 goals for Barcelona and won two league titles, three Spanish Cups and a Champions League crown.
Barcelona are currently 10/11 at Bet365 to win the title in LaLiga next season.
