Real Madrid will be hoping for a change of luck after the international break, they host Levante on Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu. Last season Levante pulled off a remarkable achievement as Real Madrid were unable to beat them in the two league matches, the game in Madrid ended 1-1 and the reverse fixture ended 2-2. Before last season, Real Madrid had won nine consecutive matches against Levante. The last time Levante defeated Real Madrid in the Spanish capital was in 2007, when they secured a 1-0 victory. The last eleven matches between these two teams had two or more goals scored in them.
Real Madrid are in crisis and the international break was like a breath of fresh air for them after three defeats in the last four matches in all competitions. Those last four games also included the Madrid derby against Atletico, which ended goalless. After that, Real Madrid lost 1-0 at CSKA Moscow in the Champions League and also 1-0 at Alaves in LaLiga. That result relegated them to fourth place in the league table, they have already lost two of their eight league matches this season and conceded seven goals. Dani Carvajal will be out until the middle of November, while Gareth Bale is struggling to overcome muscle fatigue and might not be risked.
Levante might have wished for a postponement of the international break, because they were in the best form of the season so far. They had recorded two consecutive wins before the break, the first back-to-back victories of their season after having lost four of the six initial games of the campaign. Before the international break they defeated Alaves 2-1 at home and Getafe 1-0 away and moved up to eleventh place in the league table. Nikola Vukcevic picked up an injury while on international duty and will be out of contention, along with Armando Sadiku and Coke.
Probable line-ups:
Real Madrid: Courtois - Odriozola, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo - Modric, Casemiro, Kroos - Bale, Benzema, Asensio
Levante: Olazabal - Postigo, Cabaco, Pier - Jason, Campana, Bardhi, Tono - Rochina, Boateng, Morales
My prediction: Real Madrid to win 3-1, the Blancos will probably keep leaking goals but they should be able to score more than Levante.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
