LaLiga: Real Madrid vs Osasuna preview

LaLiga: Real Madrid vs Osasuna preview

Two of the three undefeated teams in LaLiga clash on Wednesday, when giants Real Madrid host surprise package Osasuna at Santiago Bernabeu. The two sides have not met last season as Osasuna just got promoted from the second tier of Spanish football, but they did meet during the 2016-2017 season when Real Madrid won 5-2 at home and 3-1 away. The Blancos have won the last five direct matches in all competitions, and have not lost against Osasuna since 2011.

Real Madrid didn't have a great start to the season, but they are one of the three sides in the top flight to remain undefeated after five matches and they have won their last two league games. Moreover, last week they did well to bounce back from the 3-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League with a good 1-0 victory at Sevilla in LaLiga. Head coach Zinedine Zidane will most likely rotate his squad due to the busy calendar, but he still can't count on injured Marco Asensio. Luka Modric, Isco and Marcelo are injury doubts for the home side.

Osasuna have been performing above expectations so far in the top flight, nobody would have expected them to be one of the three unbeaten teams in LaLiga after five matches. However, they have won just one of the five, the first, and then recorded four consecutive draws. One of those draws was a quite significant one, they grabbed a 2-2 against Barcelona just before the international break. They have kept a clean sheet in three of their five matches this season. Unai Garcia, Kike Barja and Inigo Perez are injured for the visitors.

Probable line-ups:

Real: Courtois - Odriozola, Nacho, Ramos, Mendy - Vazquez, Valverde, Casemiro, Junior - Benzema, Jovic

Osasuna: Martinez - Vidal, D. Garcia, Hernandez, Estupinan - Sanjurjo, Moncayola - Torres, R. Garcia, Ibanez - Avila

My prediction:

The unbeaten run will come to an end for Osasuna, but I don't think Real Madrid will record a landslide win here. My prediction is that the Blancos will get a 2-1 victory.
