Sevilla host Celta Vigo on Thursday at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in a match that they must win if they want to consolidate their fourth place in the league table. Sevilla won the reverse fixture 3-0 in December but last season Celta Vigo beat them 2-1 in Seville. Overall, Sevilla won just two of the last four matches against Celta Vigo, three of the last six games ended in draws.
Sevilla are under a bit of pressure now because Villarreal clinched a surprising victory at Atletico Madrid on Tuesday and are five points away from fourth place. If Sevilla beat Celta then they could be almost sure of finishing fourth, but now they also have a chance of moving up to third place as Atletico Madrid are just three points ahead. Vitolo is injured and Samir Nasri might miss out as well.
Celta Vigo are enjoying a peaceful season finale, they are in 10th place with no relegation worries and no European hopes either. They do have the Europa League semi-finals to worry about after edging past Genk in the quarter-finals last week. They lost 1-0 at home to Betis at the weekend and they will probably continue to focus on the Europa League, but they are capable of producing surprises in LaLiga. Marcelo Diaz is suspended for this match.
Probable line-ups:
Sevilla: Rico - Mariano, Rami, Pareja, Escudero - N'Zonzi, Iborra - Correa, Vazquez, Sarabia - Jovetic
Celta: Alvarez - Mallo, Cabral, Fontas, Jonny - Hernandez, Radoja - Aspas, Wass, Sisto - Guidetti
My prediction: Sevilla to win 2-1.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Sevilla win - 1.36
Draw - 5.00
Celta win - 8.50
