Valencia have secured their tenth signing of the summer as Portuguese winger Goncalo Guedes is set to join on a permanent basis from Paris Saint-Germain. The winger played at Valencia last season as he was sent out on loan from PSG and he impressed the fans at Mestalla Stadium as Los Ches finished fourth in LaLiga. Now Valencia are preparing to play in the Champions League after a few years of absence and they insisted to have Guedes back for that challenge. The transfer fee was not disclosed, but it is believed to be in the region of 40 million euros.
Goncalo Guedes joined Paris Saint-Germain from Benfica in January 2017, but he failed to secure a first-team spot in the French capital and was sent to Valencia to continue his development. He had an instant impact in Spain, scoring 5 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for Valencia last season. Paris Saint-Germain had paid 30 million euros to Benfica for Guedes in 2017. His performances earned him a place in the Portugal national team and he even made the 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Valencia have confirmed the transfer on their official website: "Valencia CF have reached an agreement on Monday with Paris Saint-Germain FC for the definitive transfer of Portuguese international Goncalo Guedes, who will travel to Valencia on Tuesday to sign his contract as a new Valencia CF player." Valencia have brought in several high-profile players this summer, including striker Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea, striker Kevin Gameiro from Atletici Madrid and Colombia defender Jeison Murillo from Inter Milan. Valencia started the season with a 1-1 draw at home against Atletico Madrid and last weekend they lost 2-0 at Espanyol.
Valencia are 5/2 at SkyBet to finish inside the top four in LaLiga this season.
