LaLiga: Valencia vs Real Madrid preview

LaLiga giants Real Madrid are chasing their fifth consecutive win, but Sunday's match against Valencia at Mestalla Stadium will surely be a tough one for the Blancos. Last season Valencia defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in this fixture, after having lost 2-0 in Madrid. Overall, Valencia have won two of their last three home matches against Real Madrid, and the head to head record of the last ten matches shows four victories apiece and two draws.

Valencia are in their best moment of the season so far, they are undefeated in their last four matches in all competitions and this week they pulled off a major upset by beating Ajax 1-0 in Amsterdam to finish top of the table in their UEFA Champions League group. In LaLiga they are currently in eighth place, but they have won their last two matches and have scored in their last thirteen matches in all competitions. Jasper Cillessen, Goncalo Guedez, Maxi Gomez, Cristiano Piccini, Lee Kang-In and Kevin Gameiro are all out injured, while Denis Cheryshev and Geoffrey Kondogbia are doubts.

Real Madrid are also having a good moment, they are unbeaten in their last ten matches in all competitions and have won eight of them. Last week they secured a 2-0 home victory over Espanyol in LaLiga, and this week they grabbed an easy 3-1 win at Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League. The Blancos are tied on 34 points with rivals Barcelona at the top of the table. Ferland Mendy is suspended for this match, so Nacho will take his place at left-back, while Marco Asensio, James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez, Eden Hazard and Marcelo are out injured.

Probable line-ups:

Valencia: Domenech - Wass, Garay, Paulista, Gaya - Parejo, Coquelin, Soler - Torres, Moreno, Vallejo

Real: Courtois - Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Nacho - Kroos, Casemiro, Valverde - Modric - Bale, Benzema

My prediction:

Valencia are tough to beat and they can easily score against any opponent, so I think this match will end with a 2-2 draw.
