LaLiga: Valencia vs Sevilla preview

Big clash in LaLiga on Wednesday evening, when top-four contenders Valencia and Sevilla meet at Estadio de Mestalla. Last season this fixture ended 1-1, while the reverse match was won by Valencia 1-0. At the end of the campaign Valencia managed to finish in the top four and qualify for the UEFA Champions League, while Sevilla only got a ticket for the UEFA Europa League. Overall, Valencia have won three of the last six direct meetings, while Sevilla have won just one.

Valencia had a rather poor start to the season, they have won just three of their ten league matches so far and are sitting in 12th position in the league table. Last weekend they lost 3-1 at Osasuna, four days after having recorded a 1-1 draw at Lille in the UEFA Champions League. However, they have not lost any of their five home matches in LaLiga this season, but they conceded in four of them. Denis Cheryshev and Rodrigo Moreno are suspended for the home side, while Cristiano Piccini is injured. Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen and striker Kevin Gameiro are injury doubts, but both could become fit in time for this game.

Sevilla had a pretty solid season so far, they have lost just three games in all competitions since the start of the campaign and two of those defeats were against giants Real Madrid and Barcelona. Now they are on a three-game winning streak in all competitions, last week they defeated Dudelange 3-0 in the UEFA Europa League and Getafe 2-0 in LaLiga. Daniel Carrico and Sergi Gomez are the only injury concerns for the visitors ahead of this match.

Probable line-ups:

Valencia: Cillessen - Wass, Garay, Paulista, Gaya - Parejo, Kondogbia, Coquelin - Soler, Gomez, Lee Kang-In

Sevilla: Vaclik - Navas, Carlos, Kounde, Reguilon - Banega, Fernando, Jordan - Ocampos, Chicharito, Torres

My prediction:

Both sides have been scoring quite easily so far this season, so I believe this trend will continue in this match and they will record a 2-2 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at NetBet
