Manchester United are looking to recover from last weekend's Premier League defeat and the League Cup match at Swansea on Tuesday looks like the perfect opportunity. Last season the Red Devils won 4-0 at the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League, but Swansea did manage to clinch a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign. Swansea have beaten Manchester United on three occasions over the past three years, so their chances to avoid defeat on Tuesday can not be disregarded.
Swansea have their own problems in the Premier League, they have won just two of their nine matches so far and have scored just six goals. Their League Cup campaign was a lot smoother so far as they eased past MK Dons and Reading. Last weekend they lost 2-1 at home against Leicester City and dropped to 15th place in the Premier League table. Wilfried Bony, Renato Sanches and Kyle Bartley are injured, while manager Paul Clement might choose to rest some players for next weekend's Premier League match against Arsenal.
Manchester United's twelve-game unbeaten streak in all competitions came to an abrupt end last weekend as they succumbed to a surprising 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield. Manager Jose Mourinho didn't hide his disappointment after the match so he might choose to give some previously unused players a chance to shine and put pressure on the first-team regulars. Phil Jones suffered an injury during last weekend's game and will be unavailable for a while, along with Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Probable line-ups:
Swansea: Nordfeldt - Rangel, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson - Fer, Mesa, Sung-Yueng - Narsingh, Abraham, Ayew
Man United: Romero - Darmian, Lindelof, Smalling, Blind - Matic, Herrera - Lingard, Mata, Martial - Rashford
My prediction: Man United to win 1-0.
