Struggling West Ham United face a difficult test on Wednesday evening as they face in-form Tottenham at Wembley Stadium in the League Cup. The two teams have met one month ago in the Premier League and Tottenham pulled off a 3-2 away victory thanks to a double from Harry Kane. In the last two season both teams won the home match against the other, but the last time West ham United won away from home against Tottenham was in 2013, also in the League Cup.
Tottenham are undefeated since August, that's eleven matches in all competitions, eight of which were won. Last weekend the Spurs recorded an impressive 4-1 victory over Liverpool at Wembley and tied Manchester United in second place in the Premier League table. Harry Kane picked up a slight knock during that match and manager Mauricio Pochettino will most likely choose to not risk his top goalscorer in Wednesday's game. Victor Wanyama is still injured, but Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela are edging closer to their returns.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic was given two more games to turn things around at the club after last week's 3-0 home defeat against Brighton in the Premier League. Wednesday's match is the first of those two, while the second is next weekend's Premier League match at Crystal Palace. West Ham have won just four matches all season, with two of those victory coming against lower-league teams in the League Cup. Diafra Sakho and James Collins are injury doubts for the visitors.
Probable line-ups:
Tottenham: Vorm - Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose - Dier, Winks - Sissoko, Alli, Eriksen - Son Heung-Min
West Ham: Adrian - Zabaleta, Ogbonna, Reid, Cresswell - Rice, Obiang - Ayew, Lanzini, Arnautovic - Carroll
My prediction: Tottenham to win 3-1.
