Ligue 1: Thierry Henry worried about AS Monaco future

AS Monaco head coach Thierry Henry says he is worried about the club's future more than his own, amid rumours that he might get sacked soon as the team struggles to climb out of the relegation zone. AS Monaco are currently down in 19th place in Ligue 1, three points away from safety. They have won just three of their 21 league matches this season and scored just 19 goals. This week they failed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the French Cup as they lost 3-1 at home to second-tier side Metz. AS Monaco have not won a league match since the beginning of December. Thierry Henry took charge in October, returning to his former club for his first job as head coach. "My future? Owners would decide when they need to decide. I am more worried for Monaco's future. I already said that," Henry said at a news conference after the defeat against Metz. "I will repeat. No need to always ask the same question, I would answer the same thing – Atletico Madrid have been relegated in the 90s with stronger players than us. [Real] Zaragoza as well more recently as you know. I could talk about all the leagues. We are in this situation, even if it was Coupe de France and now we are out but this weekend against Dijon in Ligue 1 it's going to be war." In fact, AS Monaco visit 18th-placed Dijon this weekend in a match that could be the turning point that Henry was hoping for. If they win, they would move up to 18th spot and even hope to catch Amiens and Caen in the first safe positions. AS Monaco finished second in Ligue 1 last season and had a sensational run in the Champions League, reaching the semi-finals. But this season was not even close to what they achieved in the last campaign, they crashed out in the group stage of the Champions League and are struggling to get out of the relegation zone in Ligue 1. Last summer the club did a squad re-shuffle, with the likes of Thomas Lemar and Fabinho being sold and Aleksandr Golovin and Benjamin Henrichs arriving.
