French midfielder Paul Pogba has been enjoying life at Manchester United under interim manager
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and now the star player has voiced his support for the boss. Solskjaer's results also speak for him, he led the Red Devils to fifth place in the Premier League, just two points away from the top four, and also led the team to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The Norwegian took charge of the club in November as former manager
Jose Mourinho was sacked following the club's worst season start in 28 years. Mourinho also had an open conflict with Paul Pogba, the French midfielder
was stripped of the vice-captaincy and got relegated to the bench for most matches.
Since Solskjaer took charge Pogba was one of the key players for the club, scoring nine goals in seventeen appearances in all competitions. "Of course we want him to stay," Pogba said of Solskjaer and his prospects of remaining at the club after his contract runs out at the end of the season. "The results have been great. I have a great relationship with him, he has a great relationship with the players. When a player is happy, he wants to keep being happy. Solskjaer deserves it. He knows the club, he knows everything about the club. He is a really happy coach that gave confidence back to the players. This gave us the freedom to play and enjoy football again because maybe we lost that with the results that we had before."
Pogba did admit his disagreements with former manager Jose Mourinho, but now he seems determined to put all that behind him. "Maybe we lost confidence, maybe things went wrong," Pogba said about the poor start to the season. "A lot of talking outside that we weren't used to. I don't like to talk about the past. I like to talk about the future because that's what matters. We are better now and the results have been brilliant. We are back in the top four." Two weeks ago Manchester United lost 2-0 at Arsenal and lost their position in the Premier League top four, but the Gunners are just two points ahead of them at the moment. Moreover, last weekend they lost 2-1 at Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is 1/7 at Betfair to get the Manchester United job on a permanent basis, while Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is 7/1 to get the job.
