The operator of numerous sportsbooks in Las Vegas, CG Technology, has attracted the attention of the Nevada Gaming Control Board for shorting approximately 20,000 punters a total of $700,000 in winnings.
The gaming board officially filed a complaint on Monday, which claims that there was an additional $100,000 or so over paid on 11,000 parlay wagers over the course of 3 years.
CG Technology is being accused of attempting to prevent Nevada from conducting an investigation into the inaccurate payouts.
Sports and horse racing betting are currently operated by the company at the Cosmopolitan, M Resort, Hard Rock, Palms, Tropicana, Silverton and Venetian.
Despite punter complaints, the company made no effort to resolve the payment shortages that effected those who hadn't complained.
It wasn't until the state launched its investigation that the company proceeded to verify all the parlay wagers affected by what was said to be a software problem. The issues had been going on since 2011 and the gaming board was led to believe that the issue had been resolved but a complaint from a bettor in 2015 alerted them that it was still a problem. Correction measures began March 9, 2015.
CG Technology could face a $100,000 penalty for each of the 6 incidences mentioned in the complaint and they've got 30 days to respond.
According to the complaint, a board investigation “revealed that incorrect payments on various winning parlay wagers had been a recurring and company-wide error for several years due to a software issue or software issues known to CGT.”
