Ruckus Wireless to provide Wi-Fi network and mobile on-track wagering system
The latest industry developments include news that the New York Racing Association (NYRA) has appointed Ruckus Wireless to supply it with a new mobile on-track wagering system at the Saratoga Race Course.
Thanks to this new technology, customers will be able to place bets in real-time via their mobile device. The network will also be used for the operation of wireless ticket scanners and provision of wireless internet access throughout the race track.
According to Tom Thill, chief information officer for NYRA, “In very recent years we've seen the number of smartphones and mobile devices in use increase dramatically, and we knew we needed to deliver a wireless experience of the same caliber that we've always been committed to at the track.
“With the scalability and reliability that the Ruckus system delivers, our new mobile on-track wagering system will provide a significant revenue stream for us, while also helping the racecourse maintain its reputation as a top destination for watching state-of-the-art horseracing,” added Thill.
