Online Gambling Tax to be Implemented in Ireland
It appears that the Irish tax on online betting will become effective this year. The Betting (Amendment) Bill 2013 has been debated over several weeks but it now seems that it could be put into effect in 2014. Initially, 1% in tax will be implemented. Irish online punters wager approximately Euro 1.6 billion each year meaning that the lack of implementation over three years could represent Euro 48 million in revenue lost.
