Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is confident that star player Alexis Sanchez will sign a new contract with the Gunners this summer, but the player has not confirmed that information yet. Moreover, Arsene Wenger still does not want to speak about his future at the club as his own contract runs out at the end of the current season. Arsenal have qualified to the FA Cup final after a 2-1 extra-time victory over Manchester City last weekend, but they are about to miss out on a top-four Premier League finish.
"I personally think he will stay and sign," Arsene Wenger said about Alexis Sanchez. "First of all he is happy here, his desire is to stay, that is what I deeply believe. I don't think you would sell him to any Premier League club, that is for sure. The question is why would you sell him to another club? You want to be as strong as you can be and not strengthen the other teams. But as I have said, I think he will stay and sign a contract. Both parties have the desire to find an agreement so I think it will happen."
About his own future, the 67-year-old French manager continues to be mysterious. "I work until the last day of the season for the future," he said. "Transfer targets are important for the future of the club. My future is secondary. The future of the club is important." Alexis Sanchez is 7/4 at Bet365 to remain at Arsenal after next summer's transfer window, but Manchester City are 9/4 to sign him and Chelsea are 9/2.
