Premier League: Arsenal sign Dani Ceballos and Wiliam Saliba

Premier League club Arsenal have completed two transfers in one day on Thursday, the new arrivals are Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos and Saint-Etienne central defender Wiliam Saliba. However, these two are not exactly regular transfers because Ceballos joins on loan for the season without an option to buy, while Saliba will move back to Saint-Etienne on loan until the end of the 2019-2020 campaign.

Dani Ceballos was assigned the number 8 shirt at Arsenal, a shirt that was previously worn by Aaron Ramsey, who joined Serie A champions Juventus this summer. Ceballos said: "I’m really proud to be able to wear this shirt. I’m joining an historic Premier League side and it’s a step forward in my career. I know the Premier League because I followed it while I was in Spain. It’s a very tactical league but it’s also physical. I’ll need to adapt to the team but I can’t wait to get started. It’s really exciting." Arsenal head coach Unai Emery added: "We’re excited to see Dani join us. He is a talented player with big technical ability, creativity and precision."

On the same day the Gunners confirmed the signing of Wiliam Saliba from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne in a deal worth 27 million pounds. The 18-year-old central defender is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Europe and has made 16 league appearances last season despite his young age. "We’re delighted William is joining us," head coach Unai Emery said. "Many teams wanted him but he decided he wanted to come to us and be part of our future. He will stay in France next season for more experience and then we look forward to him joining our group."

Wiliam Saliba revealed that Arsenal was a target for him as well: "Since I was little, I've been watching Arsenal play in the Champions League and so on. There are a lot of French players who have come through here, so that really helped me to make my mind up. I spoke to Matteo Guendouzi, I even bumped into him at a funfair in Paris. That's where I told him that Arsenal wanted to sign me! He gently advised me to come here and explained what it was like. It's a massive pleasure to sign for a really, really big English club. This is the biggest club in England for me, so it was an easy decision."

Arsenal have completed just one other transfer this summer as 18-year-old Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli joined from Ituano. The Gunners are 6/4 at Bet365 to finish in the Premier League top four next season after having finished below fourth in the last three campaigns.
