Arsenal are facing another London derby on Saturday as they host West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium in a match between two teams that are still looking to get their first points on the board in the new Premier League season. Last season Arsenal grabbed a 4-1 victory in their home match against West Ham after a goalless draw in the reverse fixture. The two teams have also met in the League Cup last season and Arsenal won that match 1-0. Overall, Arsenal have won four of the last six direct matches, while West Ham's last victory against the Gunners was in 2015.
Unai Emery's spell as manager at Arsenal has started with back-to-back defeats, 2-0 at home against defending champions Manchester City and then 3-2 at Chelsea last weekend. It is true that the Gunners had a very tough schedule at the start of the season, but they were surely expecting to get at least one point out of the first two league matches. They can redeem themselves against West Ham United on Sunday and the first step would be keeping a clean sheet. Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Carl Jenkinson are still injured, while Laurent Koscielny is expected to return in December.
West Ham also had a poor start to the season, they lost 4-0 at Liverpool in the opening match and then got beaten 2-1 at home by Bournemouth last time out. That home defeat was quite painful considering that the Hammers had a 1-0 lead at half time thanks to Marko Arnautovic's goal. Winston Reid, Manuel Lanzini and Andy Carroll are injured for the away side and won't be part of the squad for this match. West Ham have two players with a point to prove on Saturday, Jack Wilshere and Lucas Perez will be determined to do well against their former team after being offloaded to the Hammers this summer.
Probable line-ups:
Arsenal: Cech - Bellerin, Mustafi, Sokratis, Monreal - Ramsey, Guendouzi - Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Aubameyang - Lacazette
West Ham: Fabianski - Zabaleta, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Masuaku - Noble, Sanchez - Perez, Wilshere, Anderson - Arnautovic
My prediction: Arsenal to win 2-1, the Gunners are still work in progress but they should be able to score a few against the Hammers.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
