Newly-promoted Premier League side Aston Villa continue to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season, manager Dean Smith has announced that Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz will join the club from Manchester City. The transfer cost Aston Villa 15 million pounds, their third most expensive acquisition of the summer. Aston Villa finished fifth in the Championship last season and eventually won the play-off final to return to the Premier League after a three-year absence.
Here's what manager Dean Smith said about 21-year-old midfielder Douglas Luiz: "Douglas is an extremely talented young player with an outstanding pedigree who I am sure will fit nicely into our style and system of play." The midfielder joined Man City from Vasco da Gama in 2017 but has not played for the Citizens at all because he was sent out on loan for two seasons at Spanish side Girona.
Douglas Luiz is the tenth signing of the summer for Aston Villa, who have also bought striker Wesley from Club Brugge for 22.5 million pounds, central defender Tyrone Mings from Bournemouth for 20 million pounds, left-back Matt Targett from Southampton for 14 million pounds, central defender Ezri Konsa from Brentford for 11 million pounds, left winger Trezeguet from Kasimpasa for 9 million pounds, right winger Anwar El Ghazi from Lille for 8 million pounds, central defender Bjorn Engels from Reims for 7 million pounds, right winger Jota from Birmingham for 4 million pounds and central defender Kortney Hause from Wolves for 3 million pounds. T
The average age of the new additions is around 23 years, which suggests that the Villains are building for the future. As for next season, they are 2/5 at Bet365 to successfully avoid relegation.

To be honest don't know much of the guy cause never seen him in play. Villa have certainly have done a nice business(and maybe they're not done yet) this summer but let's remember what happened with Fulham last season who splashed the cash themselves and despite were one of the weaker sides in the PL. So bringing in a lot of new players could always be a risky thing especially if you don't have a plan of how exactly to use them but probably the Villa approach would be a smarter than that of Fulham.
